#NoTVNovember: Day 2 - Tanked

The universe must really want us to try this challenge.

On Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the start of our first #NoTVNovember evening spent jamming out to Hamilton songs and doing some house work, I received an alarming phone call from Kate.

"I need you to come home right now. Our basement is a sauna. I think our hot water tank exploded!"

Don't worry... everyone is okay and our hot water tank didn't explode. I mean, it's shot... and our basement flooded, and it really was a sauna down there.

Just a few puddles left, but things cleaned up quickly.

The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent moving as much as we could out of the basement to clear out the water and making room for the plumbers to come in and replace our tank.

Interestingly, this unplanned expense and disaster could turn into something of a nostalgic therapy session for me. Reflecting on my past experiences while decluttering our tiny basement? I'm in!

Cleaning out our basement and going through the endless assortment of boxes sent from our parents' houses has been a task that Kate and I were meaning to do for a long time now. When we moved into our house in 2015 we essentially moved in five different lives worth of stuff: Stuff from our separate adult lives before we met; the stuff we got while together; and our childhood stuff. There is so much to go through!

It also just so happens to be a perfect distraction from not binging TV, when we aren't finishing up the remodel. One of our goals of #NoTVNovember is to reconnect with one another. This could prove to be an interesting way to dive into our past lives...
